Cabaret (German Kabarett < French cabaret: a small stage for topical, socially critical performances < Middle Dutch cabret, cambret: a tavern or inn) is a small variety theatre featuring a program of songs, dance numbers, and humorous, satirical sketches. It originated in 19th-century French clubs and inns.
As for us, from the clown-philosophical section “Propuh” (The Draft), we are most intimately critical toward ourselves. We have brought our own fears, hopes, failures, and triumphs to light, sticking to the motto: What else to do but sing! Or dance. In this cabaret, the stage opens its arms to welcome you all. Both the audience and the performers are “Propuhs” — one and the same. These “Drafts” aren’t something that ripens every year like a peach; they are extraordinary, unique, never-before-seen, and uncompromisingly themselves.
